Please continue to pray with us about finding a house to rent. We have started looking. It is very time consuming, as things are so spread out and it takes a long time to get from one place to another. We went on Thursday and looked at eight different houses. Of all those only one was really a possibility, and it was a little more than what we wanted to pay. Houses here are very different than in the States, and even very different from each other. You never know what to expect when you go in a house. We would like to be convenient to the subway, so that I can have an easier commute to language school every day, but houses near the subway tend to be more expensive, so we will see what happens. It would be ideal to have a house when our container is released from customs, so that we can take our things there, otherwise we will have to somehow fit them into Jeremy's parents' house, and then pay again to move them to our house. We don't know for sure when we will get our things, and even when we find a house, it can take 3 weeks to get all the paperwork done to get into the house.
In some rental homes, they don't leave anything, not even the light fixtures or shower heads. This is all you find in many kitchens.
This was the entire kitchen in one house we saw, and you are seeing the entire width of the kitchen in this picture!
However, we have also been in some very nice homes here, and we are praying that the Lord will lead us to the perfect house for us. I know that the Lord can work all these things out, but I tend to be fretful until I see it come to pass. I am anxious to get into our own house so we can begin to feel settled. We will be looking again next week. Please help us pray!
Remember to factor in the expenses of taxi, buses, time, etc. TO & FROM the subway that you could be saving if you live a little closer to a stop.
ReplyDeleteAlso...and this may be the most important.... Make sure there's a McDonald's or something similar near your home for when I come to visit! :) You know how picky I am! haha
Oh yes, if there are bargaining markets, tell the boys to practice their numbers in Portuguese so they can help me while shopping! :) Love ya!!
The kitchens sure are plain....no cabinets? The market place looked interesting and the produce looked really good and fresh. You'll find the right house.....we're praying for you....Love ya, Mom
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you to find the right place. I am so happy you got the number you needed. Those are simple kitchens! Wow.
