One Year Down

Today marks one year since we stepped off the airplane in here in São Paulo, Brazil! It seems hard to believe that it has been a whole year! Yet in other ways, it feels like we've been gone from the States for a very long time. In four weeks, I will finish my language school course, but I feel like I just began!  More and more I am hearing the boys speak Portuguese phrases that I didn't realize they knew.

This has definitely been an interesting and educating year. We have learned many lessons, and met many wonderful people. They say the first year is the hardest, but I think that we have been very blessed, because it really hasn't been a good year. Of course there have been rough days...and sometimes weeks, but the Lord has been very good to us. We have all adjusted to life in Brazil rather well. The adjustment has been gradual, so we didn't really even notice it. When our friends, the Kokenzies, arrived a few months ago and were experiencing the shock of some things, I realized that it had just become normal to me and I had forgotten that those things were once strange to me, too!

We are grateful to the Lord for allowing us the opportunity to serve Him. And we are grateful to everyone who faithfully prays for us. We could not make it without you!

Follow Up Post

This post won't make any sense without reading the previous one, so if you haven't read it yet, scroll down and read "A Sticky Situation" first!

Last night during family devotions Jeremy was talking to the boys about what they do with their hands, and how they should do good work. As an illustration, he asked Judson (age 2), "What does Mommy do with her hands in the kitchen?"  He responded, "She glued them!"

It's so hard to keep a serious subject going with Judson in the room!
