We finally have internet access again! It has been a busy week and a half! We were supposed to get our container on Monday of last week. That happened to be the day I was supposed to start language school. So we decided I wouldn't go the first day, so that I could be here when our things arrived, which was supposed to be between 11:00 and 3:00. Jeremy talked to the man who was shipping our container to us several times that day. At 5:30 pm it still hadn't left the port, but the man promised it would arrive that night and he would call when it left. He never called, so we waited around until about 10:00 pm, but then gave up and packed up a few things to go back to my in-laws' house for the night. At 7:30 Tuesday morning we got a call from the truck driver saying that he had been sitting in front of our new house since 10:30 the night before! Oops! So we quickly loaded the kids up and made the 30 minute drive to our new house, and some friends tried to arrange some help with unloading. We did get some help, and the container only took a couple of hours to empty.
Since I had missed language school on Monday, I hated to miss it again on Tuesday, so I decided to go ahead and go. Jeremy had planned to go with me for the first few days, but since it was in the midst of all the confusion, I mustered enough courage to go by myself. Jeremy dropped me off at the metro station because I wasn't sure about catching a bus by myself yet. I made it without any problems! Praise the Lord! I am learning alot already. I don't like the commute everyday, but I enjoy it while I am there. It has been an interesting experience.
Unpacking has been a slow process since I am gone for a large part of the day, but it is coming along. We are thankful that to our knowledge all of things arrived, and there were only a few items damaged. Our furniture has a few more scratches, but for the most part everything was fine. It's great to have our own things again. The boys are so excited about having their toys and books again.
Now we are busy trying to unpack all the boxes and find places for everything. Soon I will post some pictures of our new home. I'll try to post more regularly now and share our experiences here in Brazil. Thank you for your prayers. We need them!
Hooray!! I'm so happy you guys are settling in nicely. Can't wait for the pics!
