A Sticky Situation

When we arrived home from church yesterday evening, everyone was ready for a little snack, so I began making some grilled cheese sandwiches. They were in the skillet cooking, and I started putting away the dry dishes from lunch, making some kool-aid, and busily doing other little jobs around the kitchen.

I knew Jonathan was in the kitchen with me, and I heard him talking to whatever he was playing with, like he always does, but I didn't really pay too close attention. Something made me stop and look at him, and I saw that he had gotten a new package of super glue that was on the counter, opened the package and taken out the tube of glue, taken off the lid, and was playing with the lid and the tube. He set it down on the counter, and I picked it up to put it all away as I scolded him for what he had done. Then I realized that there was super glue all over the tube and lid, and now also all over my hands! I don't know how, but Jonathan didn't have any glue on him at all.

I managed to get the tube off of my hand and set it on the counter near the sink. I began to wash my hands and call for Jeremy who was upstairs with the other boys. He came down to find the sandwiches burning, the water pitcher overflowing on the counter, and me with super glue all over my hands! We got things under control, but I couldn't get the glue off of my hands.

We finally ate cold, well-done grilled cheese sandwiches, and then as I washed the dishes, I scrubbed on my hands with the scouring pad. Fortunately most of the glue came off of my skin, and I now only have a little left on my cuticles and fingernails. My fingers are a little raw from all the scrubbing, but I think in a few days I will be back to normal.
