It took eleven years of living in Knoxville, but I finally went up in the Sunsphere! We had to go downtown to do some paperwork, so we took the opportunity to stop and take the boys inside. They loved it! It is pretty neat, but since we recently visited the CN Tower in Toronto, this pales significantly in comparison.
The Sunsphere was built for the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville. On the observation level there are displays with tidbits of history about the fair. I would have liked to have been here then! At that time there was a restaurant in it. The whole structure was empty and closed for quite some time, but now there is a club on one of the upper levels.
It was a fun little adventure for the boys, and it was free! Can't beat that!
I love your priceless quotes. One of my favorites Jacob has recently said it "I want to wear my feet-shoes." (He was referring to sandals.) Kids are too funny!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very neat place to see. We have something similar in Dallas but I've never been in it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a good time.
