A Quick Update

We have less than two weeks until we ship our container, so we are working hard at boxing up everything we own. This explains the sparse posts on the blog! We have been sorting through everything and deciding what should be packed and what should be tossed. Jeremy is box-packer-in-chief, because he does a much better job of fitting things tightly in boxes. I am more of the sorter-of-things. Saturday afternoon I went through my hope chest and tried to down-size my collection of keepsakes. I'm sure it took longer than it should have, because I went through and read some letters from friends and family....so after drying the tears, I got busy again! It's difficult to decide what we can do without for about 6 weeks until the container arrives, and what needs to be kept with us in the suitcases. We also have to number all the boxes, make a list of what is in them, how much it is worth, and weigh and measure each box! Slowly but surely it is coming together.

The Lord has been so good to us. Things are falling into place. Jeremy made a trip to the Brazilian Consulate in Atlanta last week and finished a few documents, but they were unable to do all of them. We have appointments again on Thursday and Friday of this week. I hate that we have to go so many times, but I am thankful that we actually got an appointment! In order for me to get a permanent visa, we have to make an appointment by email. So Jeremy emailed and asked for an appointment on the earliest possible date. They replied by email saying we would need to email and schedule an appointment. Aaaaggghhhh!! I don't understand they way they do things, but I am trying to be patient. My in-laws tell me I need to just get used to it, because that is just the way the Brazilian government works! Please pray that we will get everything finished on Thursday and Friday, so we won't have to go again! We don't have much time left.

Another HUGE praise is that our van is sold! We hadn't even tried to sell it yet, but a friend of our family "just happened" to tell Jeremy's parents what kind of van he was looking for, and it "just so happened" to be exactly like our van....and it also "just so happened" that Jeremy was passing through the city where they "happened" to be that day, and he was able to stop by and let them see it.

We appreciate your prayers with us that everything else will work out. We will be without a house, vehicle, and most of our belongings for the ten days or so that we are here, so we are praying about all of that also. We have seen the Lord provide thus far, and we know He will continue to do so!

  1. I've been wanting to call you, but I wasn't sure if you were swamped with work. I think of you guys often and am praying for you.
Will you have your cell phones till you fly out? Do you have a mailing address in Brazil yet?
I know how hard it is looking through keepsakes. I could relate totally.
    Thanks for the update!
